The newly elected NPP parliamentary candidate for Abuakwa South constituency in the Eastern Region, Kingsley Agyemang, has assured people in the constituency that his decisive victory in Saturday’s primaries was a win for all.
He indicated that he is a man for all, and irrespective of one’s political affiliation, adding that as the newly elected parliamentary candidate, he would ensure development comes to everyone in the constituency.
Dr. Kingsley Agyemang, the Registrar of the Ghana Scholarships Secretariat, stated in an interview with the Daily Statesman that having combed almost every cranny in the constituency for over four years now, he was abreast of the issues that confront the people and believes he is the best man to address these issues.
Good servant
Dr. Agyemang emphasised the importance of serving as a prerequisite for leadership.
He stated, “I have over the years served the people of Abuakwa South through initiatives such as the Kingsley Quizzes, football gala to unearth talents, mentorship series, supporting teachers, drivers, market women, among others. I believe the number of votes the delegates gave me is a testament to how the people of the area appreciate my efforts.”
He added that winning the Abuakwa South seat is no mean feat because it is an area that birthed political stalwarts like JB Danquah, William Ofori Atta and Edward Akufo-Addo.
“Talk of Ghana’s current President, His Excellency President Akufo-Addo, who once was the MP for this area, and this shows that the Abuakwa South seat played and continues to play an important role in Ghana’s politics,” he said.
Unity
According to the newly elected candidate, the NPP needs unity to retain power, and “break the eight”.
He urged everyone to put their differences aside, “whether they supported Madam Gloria or Dr. Kingsley, and come together to bring Dr. Bawumia into power”.
Dr. Kingsley Agyemang polled 563 of the total votes cast, with the only contender, Gloria Ofori-Boadu, polling 29.
