The National Council of Patrons of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has formally commended the party’s Presidential Elections Committee (PEC) for what it describes as the credible and exemplary conduct of the party’s 2026 presidential election process.
In a letter dated February 24, 2026, and addressed to the Chairman of the Presidential Elections Committee, the Council praised the leadership of the committee for its dedication, professionalism, and firm handling of the internal electoral process.
The commendation was jointly signed by the Secretary of the Council, Charles Dwamena, and the Chairperson, Akosua Frema Osei-Opare.
According to the Council, the committee demonstrated “exemplary dedication, selfless service, and courageous leadership” in managing the organization and conduct of the presidential elections.
The letter noted that the committee’s principled approach to electoral governance ensured that the internal contest was conducted in a manner that was credible, transparent, free, fair, and incident-free.
“The Council hereby conveys its profound commendation to the Committee, particularly the Chairman and the Secretary, for the exemplary dedication, selfless service, and courageous leadership exhibited in the management, organization, and conduct of the 2026 Presidential Elections,” the letter stated.
The Council observed that the party had reached a critical moment during the electoral process and required strong leadership to navigate emerging uncertainties.
“At a time when the party stood at a critical crossroads and confronted significant uncertainty, the Committee demonstrated exceptional foresight, resolve, and unwavering institutional loyalty,” the statement said.
It added that some of the committee’s bold and decisive interventions were initially viewed by certain stakeholders as unconventional or contentious, but ultimately proved to be necessary decisions that served the strategic interests of the party.
“In recognition of your outstanding professionalism, discipline, impartiality, and commitment to institutional integrity, the National Council of Patrons congratulates you and the entire Committee for the exemplary execution of your mandate,” the letter added.
The Council further expressed its highest esteem and appreciation to the committee for its work in safeguarding the credibility of the party’s internal democratic processes.
