The New Patriotic Party’s parliamentary candidate for the Akyem Oda constituency, Alexander Akwasi Acquah, has promised to set up a new factory in the area in the coming year. Preparation for the factory, which will be a part of the government’s flagship One District, One Factory programme, according to Mr Akwasi Acquah, is far advanced for a take-off.
He has therefore asked members of the party to disseminate information on the good works of the Akufo-Addo government to all corners of the constituency since, adding that there are many good things that the people in the area are going to enjoy in the second term of the government.
85 per cent target
Mr Akwasi Acquah was speaking at Akyem Oda over the weekend during the launch of the Oda zonal chapter of the pro-NPP all ladies group, NPP Staunch Queens.
He urged members of the group to work hard to help the party achieve its 85 per cent votes’ target it has set to secure in this year’s general election.
The NPP parliamentary candidate noted that without hard work the target would come to naught, saying the 85 per cent mark is needed to help the NPP garner at least one million votes from the Eastern Region to increase its chances of winning a massive second-term victory.
The president of the Oda zonal chapter of staunch queens, Priscilla Asmah, underscored the relevance of the group. She noted that the good work the various volunteer groups did in the 2016 general election have come to make the work of such groups more relevant in this year’s election. She assured the party that her team would do everything necessary to help it achieve its 85 per cent target.
Unity
The Member of Parliament for the area, William Agyapong Quaittoo, also underscored the need for all groups and members in the party to work together for the success of the party in the area.
He stated that, having moved the party’s percentage votes from 60 plus per cent to over 75 per cent in the 2016 election, there is now enormous responsibility on all members to work extra hard this time.
He indicated that this is not the time for members of the party to harbour any kind of bitterness among themselves.
He advised members of the group to give the needed respect to their leaders, while urging the leaders to be candid and transparent in their dealings with their members.
