Many Ghanaians continue to show their disapproval of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of this year’s general election.
With few days to the general election, the opposition party’s campaign is being met with rejection from some Ghanaians, with some showing their disapproval of the party by hooting at them.
The party’s running mate, Prof Naana Jane Opoku-Agyeman, was recently shocked in the Western Region when she was left standing in her open-top V8 SUV alone with barely nobody around to wave to her.
This was followed by a poor showing at the flagbearer’s campaign in the Bono region, forcing him to retreat to Accra to adopt new style of drawing people to meet him.
Tip Toe Lane hooting
The recent one in the many of the disappointments is the electorate hooting at the party’s campaign team at Tip Toe Lane, in Kwame Nkrumah Circle, Accra.
In a video that has gone viral on social media, some members of the NDC are seen using mounted loud speakers on a vehicle to sell the party’s message to some passers-by and traders at Tip Toe Lane.
However, every word of the team was met with a loud cheer of ‘away-away’ from the crowd.
The crowd, some of whom could be heard speaking in the video, expressed their anger at the NDC for trying to poo-poo the life-changing policies of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, when the NDC, during their eight years tenure, did not do anything meaningful to change the lives of the people.
A voice, heard running commentary on the hooting incident, was also heard outlining some life-changing policies of the Akufo-Addo government such as the Free SHS, Planting for Food and Jobs, free water and electricity, one ambulance, one constituency, among others.
He was further heard asking Ghanaians to reject the NDC and retain the Nana Akufo-Addo government come December 7.
Other places
Recently at Koforidua, the Eastern regional capital, residents were seen hooting at an NDC campaign vehicle, prompting the campaign team to turn back on their original route.
Again, in September, in Kumasi, the NDC flagbearer, Mr John Mahama, had a hard time dealing with market women when he visited the Ashanti Region to take part his party’s town hall meeting.
The leader of the NDC was severely hooted at when he drove around some streets to exchange pleasantries with the market women.
The market women, coming out in their numbers, left their wares and jeered and booed at the former President whilst chanting the governing NPP’s ‘Four more to do more.’
