The Rebecca Foundation has donated hospital beds to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital and Kumasi South hospital in the Ashanti Region.
The Foundation has also championed campaigns, and donated to some health facilities to help combat the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.
Making the presentation on behalf of the First Lady, the Mayor of Kumasi, Osei Assibey-Antwi, said the donation was to help in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.
He said he was optimistic that the hospital beds would help make more beds available in the various health facilities treating Covid-19 patients.
Safety protocols
Mr Assibey-Antwi also took the opportunity to entreat the public to always adhere to the Ghana Health Service’s Covid-19 safety protocols.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Komfo Anokye Teaching hospital, Dr Oheneba Owusu Danso, who received the beds on behalf of the health facilities thanked the Foundation for the kind gesture.
“I am very overwhelmed with this kind of donation from the First lady of the Republic,” he said.
According to Dr Owusu Danso, he strongly believes the gesture will help the hospital’s ability to take care of the increasing numbers of Covid-19 patients.
He also urged the public to strictly adhere to the precautionary measures and safety protocols outlined by the Ghana Health Service (GHS), including constant wearing of nose mask, social distancing, avoiding handshakes and the frequently use of alcoholic based hand sanitisers.
