The sudden passing of Mr. Isaac Kwame Nti Ofori has left an irreplaceable void in the hearts of students, colleagues and the academic community at the University of Media, Arts, and Communication—Institute of Journalism (UniMAC-IJ).
I must say that as a dedicated lecturer in the Department of Integrated Social Sciences (DISS), Mr. Ofori’s untimely departure has deeply affected those who had the privilege of knowing him, learning from him, and being inspired by his passion for education and social change.
Innovative teaching
Mr. Ofori was more than just a lecturer; he was a mentor, a guide, and a friend to many. His commitment to education was evident in his innovative teaching methods and his ability to make complex social science concepts accessible and engaging.
He believed in the transformative power of education and dedicated his career to ensuring that his students absorbed knowledge, acquired critical thinking skills, and developed a sense of social responsibility.
Remarkable qualities
One of Mr. Ofori’s most remarkable qualities was his genuine care for his students. He took the time to understand their individual strengths and challenges, offering personalised guidance and support.
His door was always open, and many students found in him a confidant and a source of encouragement. His empathetic approach, coupled with his smiles and never-ending dedication to student success, earned him the respect and admiration of the entire university community.
Contributions
Mr. Ofori’s contributions extended beyond the lecture theatres. He was actively involved in various research projects and news articles aimed at addressing social issues and promoting community development.
His work often focused on bridging the gap between academic theory and practical application, emphasising the importance of using knowledge to effect positive change in society.
I’m of the resolve that as we prepare to bid our final farewell to Mr. Ofori on Saturday, July 13, 2024, God willing, at the St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, Awudome Roundabout in Accra, it is imperative that we remember and celebrate the values he stood for.
Besides, his legacy is one of dedication to education, compassion for his students, and a relentless pursuit of knowledge and social justice.
Physical presence
Let’s not forget that, while his physical presence will be greatly missed, his spirit will live on through the countless lives he touched and the lasting impact of his work.
It is without any form of scepticism that, in honouring Mr. Isaac Kwame Nti Ofori, we reaffirm our commitment to the ideals he championed.
We are equally reminded of the profound influence a single lecturer can have and the importance of continuing his vision to empower and inspire future generations.
Mr. Ofori’s life was a proof of the power of education, to say the least, and his memory will forever be a guiding light for all who knew him.
It is well!
