Truth, like a cork, will always pop up, however long it is suppressed.
That is the emerging story of how a political party, which has had decades of governance experience, would ask a flagbearer and aspirant to be free to express himself on just any issue.
It is, however, more shocking when that political party has top guns who have the previous experience of successfully engaging development partners and global financial institutions, in making Ghana a success story in economic growth and development in the West African sub-region.
It is even more ludicrous when the list of decent party big guns includes Kwesi Botchwey, Ato Ahwoi, Obed Yao Asamoah, Kwamena Ahwoi, Totobi Quakyi, ET Mensah and Yaw Akrasi Sarpong.
Ghana’s image
Again, it is intriguing when the leading opposition party behaves like a band of drunk sailors who are lost on a lonely voyage, and instead of navigating their way back home allow the ship to flounder on the waves without controls.
The captain, equally drunk like his crew, leads the chorus, plotting evil propaganda here and there, even into the US where he has employed a ruffian to sully Ghana’s image and that of the President.
This is regardless of where the official records on governance and development point to, and the fact of any allegation of incompetence or corruption being personified, paradoxically, in the thinking and being of the paymaster of the heinous plot.
Ejura journalism
From Techiman South through Ejura, down south to Takoradi, these spineless characters, spreading money to young, illiterate journalists, have done their worst to hijack the media space and pollute the environment with falsehoods and vile propaganda.
Unfortunately, this is happening whilst the state media – with all their modest logistics – appear to sit aloof and look the other way instead of striving to maintain a healthy balance in the reportage sold to the public.
Even in mischief, the vehemence and level of skulduggery have been virulent, culminating in a drowning of the voices of conscience in a sea of ‘political fraud’ that only ‘a twister’ like John Mahama can engineer.
So, when a decent-looking lady shouts wolf when there is no wolf, it is enough to threaten the foundations of the police architecture and the civil society.
And when a local government appointee attempts to correct an impression, he gets pillaged by the hordes of plotters – together with the police.
Lone voice of conscience
Thank God, among the ‘political fraudsters’, we could still find a handful of dissenting voices in a marooned JEA Mills communicator, a young NDC cadre and journalist, and a former accomplished Finance Minister and Governor of Bank of Ghana, among others, who ignored all protocol to call John Mahama to order.
It is therefore in that vein that we stand with the convenor of the FixingTheCountry Movement, who has descended heavily on the NDC, its misled and mercenary band of communicators as well as its media stations and platforms for foisting a fraud on the nation, from Techiman South through Ejura to Takoradi.
The government and the governing party cannot win the propaganda and ‘fear and panic’ war with their current way of seeking to ‘check’ the detractors, and the earlier they found a more creative, forceful way of doing that, the better it would be for their ambition to ‘break the eight’.
