The Feminine Strength Foundation (FSF), a non-profit NGO based in Accra, has generously donated sports equipment to young female athletes in Osu.
The donation, part of the ‘Empowering the Youth for a Bright Future Through Sports’ project, aims to encourage more girls to participate in sports for improved health and well-being.
Madam Akua Abrafi Gyimah, Vice President of FSF, highlighted the foundation’s commitment to involving more girls in sporting activities due to the positive impact on their health. The sports equipment donation is a strategic effort to engage community girls in the Osu area in various sporting endeavors.
Hope
The Director of Operations for FSF, Madam Catherine Mensah, expressed hope that the overall well-being of participating girls would be enhanced through sports.
Recognising the link between sports and female physical and mental well-being, FSF aims to extend its efforts to ensure broader access to sports for girls in Greater Accra and other deprived areas of Ghana.
In Sub-Saharan Africa, including Ghana, the lack of access to sports for girls remains a significant challenge.
FSF emphasises the importance of collective action from stakeholders to enhance the sporting experiences of girls and women, ultimately attracting more of them to sports.
Commitment
Madam Akua Abrafi Gyimah reiterated FSF’s unwavering commitment to supporting the development of girls, aligning with gender equality agendas and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
She called on stakeholders to join hands and support FSF’s mission to empower and uplift girls and women through sports, emphasizing the need for collective action in achieving these goals.
