A diaspora support group, called DIASPORA4DMB, has congratulated Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia for filing his nomination to contest for the NPP presidential slot.
The group singled him out as the ideal candidate who can lead the governing party to achieve the ‘breaking the eight year’ political cycle in Ghana’s political landscape.
This was contained in a statement released by the group’s executives, namely the Communication and Research Director, Kwasi Owusu – Afriyie, Finland; Secretary, Danny Opoku Antwi, USA and Chairman Diaspora4DMB, UK, Kingsley Ahenkora-Duodu.
“H.E. Bawumia has finally made it official to put to an end the anxieties of whether Bawumia will contest or not. Indeed, it is a big sigh of relief to experience such an industrious son of the land officially begin the journey to become the president.
“Indeed, it is Good Friday, and the Diaspora4DMB congratulates H.E. Dr. Bawumia. On the Good Friday, the many Bawumia supporters who promised him at the recent NPP International Women’s Conference in UK to fly to Accra to be part of his nomination filing, touched down in Accra to be part of the history. It was a scene to behold,” the group indicated.
The group said possibility of breaking the eight vibrated through the walls of the party office when Dr Bawumia filed his nomination, saying the mood at the national headquarters was ecstatic.
The group added that Bawumia’s stardom and humility is a complete contradictory characteristic of the man.
“The moment of filing the nomination was simply glorious and unique. Diaspora supporters who made the trip to witness this occasion say their sacrifice for the trip is worth the experience of witnessing Bawumia make history,” they noted.
The executives said Disapora4DMB is now more empowered to intensify its campaign for Dr Bawumia, adding the party and non-party supporters of Bawumia domiciled outside Ghana are more determined than ever to pull resources together to support the Bawumia campaign reach out to all delegates and every Ghanaian voter.
“It is possible to send the good news to every nook and cranny. It is possible to help Bawumia sell the NPP message to the floating voters and even opposition members. It is possible to break the eight. It is possible to win the 2024 general presidential and parliamentary elections with Dr Bawumia,” they reiterated.
