Mr Asare Kwabena Kumi, Managing Partner of Keen Developers, has reaffirmed the company’s dedication to delivering a transformative renovation of the Special Ward of Accra Psychiatric Hospital, describing it as far more than a routine construction assignment.
Speaking at the project launch on Monday, November 24, 2025, he explained that the decision to join the initiative was immediate because the company had already been exploring ways to support a major social impact project this year. “When the call came, it was a quick and easy decision. We knew this was something we wanted to be part of,” he said.
Involvement
Mr Kumi noted that Keen Developers has been involved from the planning stages and remains committed to executing every phase with excellence and purpose. He acknowledged the financial constraints facing the project and stressed that delays in securing full funding could prolong the very challenges the rehabilitation centre seeks to resolve.
To avoid setbacks, the company has introduced a clearly structured first phase, which will focus on the renovation of the male wards, washrooms and dining area. This phase includes the conversion of the existing wards into spaces measuring a standard ninety eight square metres, along with essential plumbing and electrical upgrades to support the renovated sections.
“This approach will allow us to begin progressive improvements while laying a solid foundation for the next stages of the project,” he said.
Responding to concerns about moving ahead without full funding, Mr Kumi assured stakeholders that Keen Developers has a proven history of delivering high quality work even in demanding circumstances. “People may wonder why we begin when funding is not complete. Let me assure you that we are fully prepared. This first phase has been carefully designed so that every detail matches the standards required. We are committed and ready to work,” he emphasised.
Measures
He added that the company will implement measures that ensure a safe and comfortable environment for all future users of the facility. He further expressed confidence in his team’s capacity to complete the first phase efficiently, safely and on schedule.
“We stand ready to continue into the next phases as soon as more funding is secured. Our commitment remains firm. We believe in the vision behind this project and we are proud to be part of it,” he said.
Mr Kumi thanked partners, donors and community members for trusting Keen Developers with the responsibility of leading such an important social intervention. He encouraged others who wish to support the project to come on board, adding that every contribution will help bring the vision to life.
