The Minerals Commission of Ghana has reinforced the country’s position as a leading mining investment destination in Africa at the International Mining and Resources Conference (IMARC 2026), being held at the International Convention Centre in Sydney, Australia, from 27th to 29th October 2026.
Ghana’s delegation to the prestigious international mining conference was led by Madam Victoria Awuni, Deputy Chief Executive Officer responsible for Policy Planning, Mineral Titles and Local Content, who represented the Minerals Commission on behalf of the Chief Executive Officer Mr Isaac Tandoh and delivered Ghana’s investment presentation during the Ministerial and Government Opportunities Session.
Addressing an international audience of mining executives, investors, policymakers and industry stakeholders, Madam Awuni highlighted Ghana’s competitive advantages, investment opportunities and ongoing efforts to position the country as a preferred destination for responsible and sustainable mining investment.
Her presentation showcased Ghana’s rich mineral endowment, established mining industry, evolving regulatory framework and commitment to creating an enabling environment for both existing and prospective investors.
She emphasised the opportunities available across Ghana’s mining value chain, including mineral exploration, mine development, mining support services, local content participation, mineral processing and value addition.
The presentation further highlighted the Minerals Commission’s role in strengthening regulatory efficiency, promoting transparency in mineral rights administration and advancing responsible mineral resource governance to support long-term investment.
With Ghana firmly established as Africa’s leading gold producer, Madam Awuni underscored the country’s ambition to move beyond mineral extraction towards greater beneficiation, industrial development and increased Ghanaian participation in the mining industry.
Ghana’s participation in the Ministerial and Government Opportunities Session provided an important platform to present the country’s mining investment proposition to the global investment community, while reinforcing its commitment to sustainable resource development and mutually beneficial international partnerships.
Beyond the presentation, IMARC 2026 offers the Minerals Commission an opportunity to engage with international mining companies, technology providers, investors and regulatory institutions on emerging industry trends, innovation and potential areas of cooperation.
The Commission’s participation reflects Ghana’s determination not only to remain a leading mineral-producing nation but also to position itself as a competitive, transparent and forward-looking destination for mining investment.
Through its continued engagement on international platforms such as IMARC, the Minerals Commission remains committed to attracting responsible investment, strengthening global partnerships and advancing a mining industry that delivers sustainable economic benefits to Ghana.
