The National Lottery Authority (NLA) has suspended all collaboration agreements which do not seem to have received the appropriate approval from its board of directors.
The action was taken in accordance with the National Lotto Act 722 and Lottery Regulations L. I. 1948.
According to a release from the Public Affairs Unit of the Authority, the action became necessary after management “conducted internal investigations into some of these contracts”.
“The Management of the NLA wants to place on record that after its internal investigations, it has been established that only four (4) companies operating in partnership with NLA had received Board Approval from the previous Board,” the release said.
It added: “However, any Lottery Company which has been affected by this management decision has every right in the absence of the Board and substantive Director-General to appeal to the Ministry of Finance (supervising Ministry of NLA) or the Office of the President (the appointing authority) for review.”
The statement further urged everyone or any institution “which has a contract with NLA to kindly submit a copy of such contract to the Office of the Acting Director-General for review.”
