NNEKA SPEED MENTORING

Nneka Youth Foundation (NYF) believes the youth need to be propped up at the beginning of every academic year to face the year no matter the challenges they may encounter at home and in school and how to cope.

They are normally encouraged to be strong and focused on their goals to become great in future.

Nneka Speed Mentoring programme at the end of the 1st quarter of 2023 academic year, saw the Foundation reach out to over 2000 in-school youth in two Regions; Volta and Greater Accra and three districts; Afadzato South District, Kpando Municipal and Ningo-Prampram District.

The Nneka team had interactive sessions with the youth on the decisions to make, goals to set and how to focus on their education in order to realize the future they hope for. The teachers were encouraged to go extra mile to support their students to succeed.

Mental health

One of the most overlooked aspects of health worldwide is mental health and teachers were reminded not to neglect addressing this society crippling menace, as it derails the progress of learners.

There have been a few attempted suicide cases among the youth in some the districts we work, which in most cases were caused by students’ inability to communicate openly with their parents and teachers about the challenges they go through.

Parents and all stakeholders are to join in the fight to keep the youth alive.  Reading books and sanitary pads, among others were supplied to the students during the interactive sessions.
