As the December 7 general election inches closer, the governing New Patriotic Party has been embarking on series of activities to cement the name NPP on the minds of the electorate.
In this regard, many political figures have mounted intense campaign strategies to put their odds of winning the election on a safer side.
As part of this, the NPP on Saturday October 24 embarked on what it calls the Party Colour Day where party members and leaders were made to put on anything that has the NPP’s red, white and blue colours in it.
Boot on ground
To make the day a success, the party’s youth wing also declared the day as “Boot on Ground” where leadership of the youth wing led party members to distribute party paraphernalia to members of the public.
In the Dome Kwabenya constituency, Perpetual Lomokie, the party’s Deputy National Youth Organiser, and her team distributed party paraphernalia such as stickers, party flags, posters, among others, to the electorate. They also used the occasion to propagate the NPP government’s achievement to the people.
From Dome-Kwabenya, the team moved to the streets of Taifa, where they interacted with the youth and other members of the constituency.
Igniting passion
Speaking to the media, Ms Lomokie, stated: “The time has come to ignite the passion and the love of the youth to rally behind the New Patriotic Party because whatever President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has done in his less than four years are in the interest of the youth.”
“The teaming youth are more than ready. They are charged to seek for victory for President Akufo-Addo come December, and victory is assured. Our good works are our leverage for the victory,” she added.
Elephant Day
In a related development, the Eastern Regional branch of the party has declared tomorrow, Friday October 30, as ‘Elephant Day’.
By this, all party faithful, “executives at all levels, parliamentary candidates, party members, sympathizers and indeed all Ghanaians who have benefited from the NPP government’s initiatives are encouraged to wear party attire, t-shirts and colours.”
A statement signed by the Regional Secretary, Jeff Konadu, said: “The Regional Chairman requests that all corners of our localities, shops, and in fact every lane in our town, cities and villages across the Region be decorated with New Patriotic Party flags, posters and anything NPP to showcase the unprecedented achievement of the NPP under the leadership of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.”
“Constituency executives, parliamentary candidates, electoral areas coordinators, polling stations executives across the region are to mark this day and observe it with passion,” the statement added.
The Regional Chairman has also encouraged, especially, the youth across the region to participate in what he calls ‘The Elephant Day Challenge’
“The youth are encouraged to come up with any…pictures, postures, videos and any initiative using the NPP colours or the Elephant. Post your beautiful… Elephant Day pictures, videos etc on social media and tag #ERNPPOFFICIAL2020. The most wonderful Elephant Day pictures/videos will receive a handsome reward from the Regional Leadership,” the party has assured.
The party added that “the Elephant Day observance will usher in one month of continuous Boots-on-the-Ground (house-to-house) campaign across the Region, starting from 1st to 30th November.”
