The New Patriotic Party (NPP) branch in Coventry, West Midlands, United Kingdom, has lauded the NPP’s ongoing nationwide Thank You Tour, describing it as a remarkable demonstration of the party’s commitment to grassroots engagement and appreciation following the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections.
In a statement signed and released on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, by Joseph Dwamena, Chairman of NPP Coventry, the branch praised the national leadership for embarking on the tour, which aims to engage all constituencies and express gratitude to party supporters and Ghanaians at large.
According to the statement, the Thank You Tour demonstrated the NPP’s dedication to accountability and its willingness to directly connect with the grassroots — the party’s foundational supporters who have stood with it through years of political activity.
“In our opinion, the tour will offer a forum for fruitful discussion, enabling all party supporters to express their opinions on the recently concluded general elections and contribute to the development of solid bonds with the grassroots members who are the foundation of the party,” the statement read.
The Coventry branch emphasised that the initiative was not only about expressing appreciation but also about listening to the people, recognizing their contributions, and ensuring that grassroots voices help shape the party’s future policies and direction.
Concerns
The NPP also Coventry branch expressed concern over recent misunderstandings and public rebuttals surrounding the Thank You Tour. They cautioned that internal discord has the potential to overshadow the good intentions behind what they described as an admirable initiative.
“The tour’s organizers, particularly the national leadership, are urged to make sure that party talks and public discourse are always carried out with respect, decency, and a dedication to unity,” the statement said.
The statement acknowledged that disagreements were normal within any democratic organization. It however, stressed the need for responsibility and discipline among party members, particularly those tasked with addressing the grassroots. “It is crucial that those given the chance to speak with our base use responsibility and discipline in their interactions to prevent arguments from turning into destructive confrontations,” the statement advised.
Unity
The NPP Coventry branch reaffirmed the party’s historical role as a pillar of stability and progress in Ghana’s political landscape. It urged party executives and stakeholders to manage internal issues with decorum, focusing on constructive dialogue rather than divisive accusations.
The statement further called on the party to keep its eyes firmly on the larger goal: reclaiming political power from the Mahama-led National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2028 elections and advancing the sound policies initiated by the erstwhile Akufo-Addo-Bawumia administration.
“As the Thank You Tour continues, we encourage all leaders and members of the NPP to reaffirm their commitment to unity, uphold the values of responsible leadership, and work collectively towards the progress and prosperity of the party and Ghana in general,” the statement added.
