The Eastern Regional youth wing of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has pledged to help the party secure at least one million votes out of the total number of votes from the region in this year’s election.
The Regional Youth Organiser, Jerry Osei-Poku, said members of the youth wing would continue to work diligently until they secure the one million votes for President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
They have also promised to secure at least 30 of the parliamentary seats in the region for the NPP.
Addressing the media at Abomosu in the Atiwa West District, as part of the party’s “The Youth Must Know” series, the youth organiser charged the party’s youth not to let their guard down and allow themselves to be “deceived by the lofty and whimsical promises of the unreliable NDC”.
Credibility test
Mr Osei-Poku indicated that it is an open secret that the opposition party survives on propaganda, lies and mischief, and urged the youth to be vigilant ahead of the election.
“Let us remember that when the incompetent Mahama was president, he turned a blind eye to the plights of Ghanaians and gave no listening ears to the wailing masses, even though he knew that he would campaign for our votes once more,” he said.
“Conversely, the NPP thrives on truth, facts and data,” he said.
He added that, judging from the track records and innate traits of the NDC and Mr Mahama, Ghanaians should not make a mistake of re-electing him into office.
Ill treatment
On education Mr Osei-Poku said, “No government in the history of the 4th Republic has ill-treated teachers like what the incompetent and corrupt Mahama led NDC administration did.”
“Under the incompetent Mahama’s government that had the insensitive Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang as Education Minister, the once noble teaching profession was reduced to slavery, with inhumane policies like the three months’ salary arrears policy; cancellation of the Book and Research Allowance; cancellation of duty-free incentives given to teachers relative to the importation of vehicles; delayed promotion of teachers due to incompetence and inefficient GES promotion processes; cancellation of teacher training allowance, among others,” he added.
