The management of the National Service Scheme (NSS) and the Ayawaso West Municipal Assembly (AWMA) have begun discussions for collaboration in revenue generation and sanitation.
The Executive Director of the Scheme, Osei Assibey Antwi, explained that as part of the collaboration, the parties would explore innovative ways of putting their human resource to effective use to increase their revenue base.
The collaboration would also see the two state agencies prioritise the deployment of the available human resources, including national service personnel, to help improve sanitation in the municipality.
This came to light when an 11-member delegation from AWMA, paid a working visit to the Executive Director of the National Service Scheme (NSS) at his office over the weekend.
The visit, led by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Sandra Owusu Ahinkorah, was also aimed at congratulating Mr Assibey Antwi as well as learning about the innovative programmes the NSS had introduced under its new mission of ‘Deployment for Employment’.
Acknowledgement
Welcoming the delegation, the NSS Executive Director acknowledged the contributions and efforts the executives of the Ayawaso West municipality have made in terms of investment to drive development in the area.
Mr Assibey further observed that it was never enough to be satisfied with the level of development, saying “we still have vast opportunity to increase productivity and propel development in the municipality”.
He indicated that it was refreshing to receive a welcome gesture from the MCE and the management of the municipal office. “We are very happy to receive you in our office today and since the Scheme is headquartered in your municipality, we are more than ready to explore areas we can partner in a manner that will benefit both of us,” he said.
On her part, Mrs Owusu Ahinkorah, who was impressed with the developments, commended the NSS Executive Director on the gains and successes chalked within the short period of his appointment.
“I have always known him to be a man of great ideas, I know he is smart but for what we have seen and heard, on behalf of my people, we say well done. We are super proud to witness what you have been able to do here at NSS,” the MCE remarked.
