The Member of Parliament for Okaikwei North Constituency, Theresa Lardi Awuni, has intensified efforts to secure the asphalting of roads in the constituency as part of measures to improve transportation and fulfil campaign commitments to residents.
The road projects, which include the upgrading of previously rough inner-city roads into asphalted and paved surfaces, are being undertaken in collaboration with the Ministry of Roads and Highways and relevant agencies.
According to the MP, the improvements are aimed at easing movement within the communities, improving access to essential services and creating an environment that supports local economic activities.
Speaking during an inspection of ongoing road and drainage projects at Abofu and Alogboshie in the Okaikwei North Constituency, the Assembly Member for the Abofu Electoral Area, James Aklogo, said the road upgrades would bring significant relief to residents and motorists.
He noted that the completed asphalted roads would help reduce dust pollution, lower vehicle maintenance costs and make it easier for residents to access markets, schools, health facilities and other essential services.
Mr Aklogo commended the MP for making infrastructure development a major priority and for working to improve road conditions across the constituency.
He, however, urged residents of Alogboshie to help protect the newly improved roads by refraining from activities that could damage them.
He specifically cautioned residents against washing vehicles on the roads, spilling oil and cooking on the roads, stressing that such activities could undermine the durability of the projects.
Mr Aklogo also appealed to residents to cooperate with contractors working on the projects to ensure that the roads and drainage systems were completed within the scheduled timeframe.
Some residents of Alogboshie expressed excitement over the ongoing works, describing the projects as a major relief after years of dealing with poor road conditions.
They thanked Ms Awuni and the government for responding to their concerns and called for the timely completion of the projects to improve transportation and living conditions in the communities.
