An economist, chartered accountant and a financial analyst, Christian Donkor, has described the current stalemate between the Special Prosecutor and Eunice Jacqueline Buah Asomah Hinneh, owner of Labianca Company Limited, as a fight between “two competing interest groups and evil orchestration” among sector and industry players aimed at collapsing the business of the Council of State member.
Speaking in an interview on Net2 TV Dialogue session yesterday, he said these are part of some common phenomena that characterise businesses in the industry that have competitive advantage over others.
Mr Christian Donkor claimed that the businesswoman had not done anything wrong to merit such orchestrated attempts by the CEO of FrancoPat, Francis Owusu, and the level of attack from some competitors in the industry, particularly on the part of Mr Adu-Boffour, a Customs officer who doubles as an importer and a clearing agent.
“Labianca Company Limited is one of the giant industry players in the Ghanaian economy. It is an evil orchestration to destroy the company by one individual, and that person is CEO of FrancoPat, Francis Owusu. He is dangerous in the importers and exporters sector. And he has other associates, and I think it is time for him to be exposed,” he contended.
Allegation
He further alleged that Mr Francis Owusu had retrieved information from Holland, which was personally orchestrated.
“Fishing document from Holland, so he cooked up that document… Look, it is important to protect the interest of every single employee in Labianca because loss of jobs can be traumatising. And looking at the current state of the economy, we must safeguard every single business entity, and therefore FrancoPat should be ignored,” he said.
The allegation is that he has fished fake documents, and also plans to take a fake document to his supplier in Holland through Mr Adu-Boffour who executing this dubious plans.
The financial analyst stressed that every information about importer and export is a confidential one with the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).
In his opinion, therefore, the information by Francis Owusu is illegal, adding that “he is walking around causing mischief to the detriment of Labianca Company Limited”.
Privatisation
In his view, for the economy to grow faster, support must be given to private companies since their operations are key in creating jobs and mobilising revenue for development.
He also believes that when you have key players in a particular sector/industry whose deeds are detrimental to that sector, stakeholders must tread cautiously. This, he added, is because when you touch one company, its whole existence together with the fortunes of workers and their dependents are affected.
Meanwhile, a former Deputy Minister of Agriculture under the Mahama administration, Hannah Bissiw, has alleged that one Mr Adu Boffour and Frank Owusu, popularly called FrancoPat, were behind the Special Prosecutor’s focus on Labianca Company Limited.
Disclosing this in an interview on Neat FM recently, she said she had had some level of interactions with Labianca and other companies because these are major importers of chicken products as far as the industry is concerned.
