The Head Pastor of International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), Pastor Mensa Otabil, says the church can play a vital role in the promotion of Christian music to the highest level.
He has therefore advised Christians to use the church as the place best to begin the creative arts.
He made the call on Easter Sunday at the church’s maiden musical concert, dubbed “He lives”, at the new headquarters of ICGC, Christ Temple East, Teshie.
Dr. Otabil explained that the church forms a Christian arts and music centre, and should therefore promote Christ and Christian music to the highest level.
‘He lives concert’
In an interview with the Musical Director, Pastor Edwin Dadson, he indicated that the concert was the first of its kind under his leadership, explaining that it was meant to bring the music and arts ministry of the church together on one stage. He hoped that people would leave the concert with higher expectation and renewal.
The ambiance was charged with beautiful lighting, decorations, colourful and neatly dressed ushers.
The evening witnessed melodious and thrilling songs from Sandra Huson Kelly, a lady known for her jazz music, Zama band, an all-men musician band, Lumina, an operatic music group, Endless Parise, a team known for their hymnal and choral songs.
Other performers included Contemporary Voices, also known for their urban praise and worship. Pastor Ella Somuah and the ‘this far by grace’ hitmaker, Pastor Edwin Dadson, also thrilled the congregants.
Known for his touching and passionate worships songs, Nathanael Bassey, a Nigerian gospel artiste, was the guest artiste for the night. He joined in the concert live from Nigeria with his powerful ministration, leaving worshipers into the presence of God. Patrons described the concert as a life changing one.
Josiah Antonio Silva, a member of the church, said he was blessed to have been part of the concert, saying “I will not miss the next edition for anything in this world”.
Dr. Otabil, in his closing remarks, expressed appreciation to all those who participated in the programme. He said the new auditorium of the church was designed not just as a worship centre, but also a place for promoting Christian arts and music.
He further disclosed that the church has plans of having an ‘after-care children school’, and would be converting the children’s church into a programmes centre to train children not only for the church but the country at large.
