A US-based Ghanaian philanthropist, Samuel Quansah Quarcoo, and his friends have undertaken a mass donation exercise to orphanages and schools within the country.
At least four facilities have benefitted from the benevolence of the Philanthropist in the last month. Mr Quarcoo donated items worth thousands of dollars to these institutions to aid the running of affairs at those places.
Some of the beneficial institutions include ‘Ghana Make a Different Orphanage Home’ in the Central Region, O’Reilly Senior High School, Bishop Girls School, and Westside School in Accra. The items donated included bags of rice, cooking oils, a sewing machine and books.
The philanthropist, who has been embarking on such charity works for some years now, said he found fulfilment in giving back to society to improve the plight of the vulnerable and the underprivileged.
Showing love
Speaking at the presentation ceremony at the Ghana Make a Different Orphanage Home, Mr Quansah Quarcoo said the donation was his way of showing love to the children at the Orphanage.
He added that it was also to help ease the burden on those managing the Orphanage.
Receiving the items on behalf of the Orphanage, Mr Patrick said the items had come at the right time since the Home had run out of foodstuffs.
Mr Patrick also said the sewing machines have also come at the right time because some of the children at the Orphanage are embarking on dressmaking training and will need the machines to make the training easier for them.
Other donations
Mr Quarcoo also donated items to Emmaus Methodist School Complex at Awoshie last stop in Accra. Some of the items were shoes, school bags, textbooks, notebooks, PA system, pens, pencils, toothbrush and paste, sanitary pads, liquid soaps, sanitisers, among others.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony in Accra, Mr Quarcoo said the donation was his contribution to support the pupils and encouraged them to study well. According to him, the initiative was borne out of his genuine love for charity and eagerness to alleviate the plights of the less privileged.
Mr Quarcoo expressed profound gratitude to his well-wishers in the US who had been supporting his philanthropic work.
The Westside School in Ablekuma, Greater Accra, also benefitted from the kind gesture of Mr Quarcoo. The school received shoes, school bags, maths set, textbooks, notebooks, boxes of A4 sheets, pens, pencils, toothbrush and paste, liquid soaps, sanitizers and many more.
At O’Reilly SHS and Bishop Girls in Accra, the items donated were shoes, school bags, textbooks, notebooks, boxes of an A4 sheet, pens, pencils, toothbrush and paste, sanitary pads, liquid soaps and sanitisers.
