The Editorial Team of the Daily Statesman Newspaper retract aspects of its July 15, 2026 publication titled “NCCE Decries Duplication of Roles by MDAs”, following concerns raised by the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) over accuracies in aspects of the report.
The newspaper acknowledges that portions of the story did not accurately reflect the submissions made by the NCCE during the National Justice Conference held in Accra. In Particular, the headline, lead and certain portions of the report erroneously suggested that the Commission was challenging the establishment of Public Relations or Public Affairs units within Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
The newspaper further admits that it had inaccurately attributed concerns relating to funding and Public Relations structures to the Commission, noting that those representations did not fully capture the substance of the statement delivered at the conference by the NCCE’s Director of Communication and Corporate Affairs, Rita Amparbin.
The Editorial Team expresses regret over the inaccuracies, recognising the importance of accurately reporting the positions of public institutions.
The newspaper reaffirms our commitment to ensuring that public officials and institutions are represented fairly and accurately in our reportage.
