Institute for Transgenerational Leaders (ITL), a policy initiative network and development agency, has declared its support for the re-election of John Boadu as the general secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), ahead of the party’s national executive elections.

The group has also cautioned the party delegates to be mindful of the crop of leaders they vote for, saying “the kind of leaders voted for would determine the party’s victory in the 2024 general elections”.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Executive Secretaries of the Institute, Lawrence Kwesi Botchway Jnr, Odeneho Oppong Prince and Tony Marshall Adoninaab.

“The General Secretary position of the party is one that requires experience and devotion. We believe none of the aspirants measure up to his wealth of experience. John Boadu’s track record and experience is unmatched when it comes to the New Patriotic Party. It would be in the supreme interest of the party to maintain him,” they stated.

Ideal man

The group further indicated that Mr. Boadu has the needed experience and could be trusted with the job of helping the party secure victory in the 2024 general elections.

“John Boadu has been National Finance Officer, National Youth Treasurer, National Youth Organiser, a Deputy National Communications Director, National Organiser, among others. He has so far served at the national party headquarters for 22 years.

“Prior to assumption of his position at the national level, he served the party well at the grassroots from polling station chairman, through to constituency secretary and regional research and elections officer. NPP cannot afford to repeat their 2008 mistakes. 2024 depends on John Boadu. The NPP dare not neglect such a great person of experience and tenacity,” they emphasised.
