Obrempong Ameyaw Aponsem, chief of the Anyima Traditional Area in Kintampo South, has urged young people to commit to living purposeful lives, stating that it is this commitment that will help them achieve their goals and positively transform Ghana’s developmental trajectory.
Speaking to journalists on the sidelines of this year’s Diamond Excellence Awards, organised by Dannys Entertainment, Obrempong Aponsem noted that many young people forget their purpose in life, and are drawn into social vices that ultimately end badly for them. He emphasised that a purposeless life leads to personal ruin and also undermines the moral fabric of a community.
Obrempong Ameyaw Aponsem was honoured with a prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2025 edition of the Diamond Excellence Awards, in recognition of his unwavering dedication to traditional leadership and peacebuilding in Ghana.
Honour
The event, held in the presence of dignitaries and cultural leaders, highlighted Obrempong’s outstanding contributions, resilience, and the lasting legacy he continues to build within his community. The organisers described him as a beacon of wisdom and a symbol of integrity, whose work has not only uplifted the Anyima Traditional Area but has also inspired national admiration.
“We honour you with this Lifetime Achievement Award, celebrating your extraordinary legacy and peacebuilding,” the organisers stated.
In response to the honour, Obrempong Ameyaw Aponsem remarked, “This means a lot to me because we need to honour people while they are alive, so it will motivate the younger generation to do more.”
He further encouraged the youth to live purposefully and strive for excellence. “I urge the youth to do well, because if you are devoted, you’ll be recognised,” he added.
The award serves not only as a tribute to a revered traditional leader but also as a call to action for communities to value and celebrate the contributions of their elders while they are still present.
