The leader and founder of Hour of Grace Believers Ministry International (HGBM), Prince Ofosuhene, has urged the youth to leverage the entrepreneurial opportunities at their disposal.
Such efforts, he indicated, will create wealth and reduce the dependency rates characterised by the young people.
He made this disclosure yesterday at Klagon, a suburb of Accra, during an interview with the Daily Statesman on efforts aimed at reviving the economy and the need for the youth to be enterprising.
Prince Ofosuhene noted that every part of the world is experiencing one economic setback or the other, saying what sets people apart is the seriousness with which the youth take up entrepreneurial initiatives and take control of their lives.
According to him, these are ingredients for creating wealth and reducing unemployment rates.
He bemoaned the manner in which some youth limit their skills and knowledge, and expect in vain to be employed in the government sector “when they could be better citizens actually being their own bosses if they leveraged opportunities”.
“No government in history has ever been able to solve all societal problems like unemployment, health, education etc. However, the youth in their quest to take the bull by the horn, have succeeded in transforming their nations. Certainly, Ghana cannot afford to be aloof in that regard,” he noted.
Mind-set
He stressed that Ghanaian youth can do same by working on their mind-set, showing readiness to have an unending desire to help Ghana wean herself from the current global economic issues through positive involvement in industry.
Prince Ofosuhene expressed his disgust at the tendency of some of the youth to believe self-employment is for hustlers or nonentities.
He indicated that one of the surest ways of helping the nation back on her feet is a collective approach as well as youth involvement in venturing into agribusiness.
“As youth, you can go into all forms of agricultural activities to help develop yourself and create employment opportunities for friends, families and acquaintances, if we can fight the global economic challenges currently hitting hard on every nation…We shouldn’t forget that agriculture remains the backbone of any nation, and any attempt aimed at ignoring its importance will have dire effects on the economy.”
Prince Ofosuhene also admonished the youth to help champion peace at all times, and avoid any form of unruly activities that undermine Ghana’s security.
He challenged them to avoid social vices like resorting alcoholism, in-take of hard drugs as it will corrupt their minds and demotivate them in their aspirations at being responsible citizens.
