Information reaching the Daily Statesman indicates that the Ghana Police Service has made a deployment of about 147 police personnel to Somalia for the maintenance of peace and order in that part of the African continent.
The 147 police officers deployed to the African Union Peacekeeping Mission (AMISOM) in Somalia were drawn from the Formed Police Unit (FPU).
The source also disclosed that the officers departed from Ghana to the host country on November 2, 2020, to assist the local police in maintaining peace and order.
Director of International Relations Department, ASP Baba Saanid Adamu, briefing the officers before their departure, advised them to remain professional in their peacekeeping duties.
