Three officers of the Ghana Police Service and an officer of the Ghana Immigration Service have been interdicted for allegedly stealing at Bole during an operation at Koundanlgou.
The three interdicted Police officers and their Immigration Service counterpart stealing were arrested after stealing some belongings of illegal miners on Monday, November 29, 2021.
Reports say that the four security personnel were placed on investigations to unravel their involvement in the reported case of stealing.
The four suspects are Assistant Inspector of Immigration Joseph Awuku Kumi, 39; Constable Christian Appiah Junior, 24; G/Constable Augustine Apraku, 28; and G/Constable Richmond Owusu Ansah, 30.
Preliminary investigations
According to the Savannah Regional Police Command, preliminary investigations had provided enough evidence for the officers to be interdicted to serve as deterrence to other officers. personnel.
The police preliminary investigations revealed that after the arrest of the personnel, Constable Christian Appiah had on him GHC4,135, whereas Constable Augustine Apraku and Constable Richmond Owusu Ansah were found with smartphones belonging to the illegal miners.
It further noted that an Immigration officer, Assistant Inspector of Immigration Joseph Awuku Kumi, was found with an amount in the tune of GHC10,880.
Currently, the suspects are in the Savannah Regional Police custody, while the exhibits are retained for further investigation.

In a related development, the Police, in collaboration with the National Investigation Bureau (NIB), on Sunday arrested suspect Farouk Dauda, alias Omondi, aged 31-years, who was part of the rioters of the Mamobi-Nima clash.
Farouk Dauda was arrested at his hideout in a suburb of Accra, based on intelligence, having gone into hiding after the incident which occurred on January 18, 2022.
During interrogation, he admitted his involvement in the said clash. He was captured in a video footage wielding a machete.
Meanwhile, a search conducted on him led to the retrieval of a wrapped substance suspected to be Indian hemp. The suspect is in the police custody assisting with investigations whilst efforts are being made to arrest all other persons involved in the clash.
