President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has appointed a deputy communications director for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Richard Asante Yeboah, as the acting Executive Secretary of the Public Servants Housing Loans Scheme.
An appointment letter dated April 21, 2022 said Dr Yeboah would be serving in an acting capacity “pending receipt of the constitutionally required advice of the governing board of the scheme”, in consultation with the Public Services Commission.
The letter, signed by Nana Bediatuo Asante, Secretary to the President, added that Dr Yeboah had 14 days to accept the offer. Nana Bediatuo Asante also explained that Dr Yeboah’s appointment is pursuant to Section 11 (1) of the Public Servants (Housing Loans) Scheme Act, 1975 (N.R.C.D. 319).
“I am pleased to inform you that the President has appointed you to act as the executive secretary of the Public Servants Housing Loans Scheme pending receipt of the constitutionally required advice of the governing board of the scheme, given in consultation with the Public Services Commission,” the appointment letter said.
The Scheme
The Public Service Housing Loan facility assists Civil and Public Servants acquire dwelling houses in the country. It is under the supervision of the Ministry of Works and Housing.
The Scheme’s board was established to assist civil/public servants to acquire their own residential property through the granting of mortgage loans.
The Act establishing the Board is NRCD 319 of 1975. Application forms endorsed by the head or directors of departments and agencies of applicants are submitted with the necessary attachments such title deeds, building plans, building permits, and pay slips. When these requirements are met, the documents are processed and approved by the board.
Dr Asante Yeboah is an outspoken politician, whose communication prowess led to his election as a Deputy Communications Director of the governing NPP. Apart from politics, he is a farmer and business tycoon who owns a number of companies.

Meanwhile, Dr Asante Yeboah has expressed appreciation to the President and others for the honour done him.

He also thanked the sector minister, Francis Asenso-Boakye, for believing in him, and subsequently recommending him for the appointment.
