The Tano South Municipal Chief Executive, Collins Offinam Takyi, has asked residents in the area to always honour their tax obligations to facilitate the execution of rapid development in the various communities.
He said revenue generation by the Tano South Municipal Assembly has taken a nose-dive as most residents fail to pay their respective taxes and levies expected of them, thereby impeding the development of the area.
The MCE stated the Assembly is inundated with calls by various communities in the municipality for all kinds of assistance “but we are handicapped in responding positively to some of these calls basically due to the lack of funds to meet their demands.”
Feedback
Mr Offinam Takyi, who was addressing separate Town Hall Meetings organized by the assembly at Mensen and Ankaase, said the Assembly has instituted mechanisms to step up revenue mobilization in the Municipality. He called on all residents to co-operate and assist in that direction.
The meetings were to, among others, explain government policies and programmes to people and to take feedback for further action.
The Municipal Co-ordinating Director, Augustine Peprah, urged the Unit Committee Members in the communities to help sensitize their members on the need to pay taxes
