Hon. Paul A. Twum Barimah, former Member of Parliament for Dormaa East, is set to deliver a keynote address on Natural Resources and Environmental Governance at the 2025 African Youth Conference in Accra today.
The three-day conference, themed “Transforming Africa’s Natural Resource Governance Through Youth-Led Solutions,” runs from September 11 to 13 at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel. Organized by the Strategic Youth Network for Development (SYND), AYC2025 brings together approximately 300 participants, including young leaders, government officials, civil society actors, private sector representatives, and media personnel.
Speaking ahead of the event, SYND highlighted that the conference provides a crucial platform to amplify youth inclusion and leadership in sustainable resource management across Africa. Participants will engage in discussions designed to advance Africa’s Agenda 2063 and the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), focusing on innovative, youth-driven solutions.
Key themes of the conference include green finance mechanisms, energy transition, economic diversification, value-chain addition, green entrepreneurship, and climate action. In addition to plenary sessions, side events will offer participants the opportunity to host and contribute to thematic discussions on natural resource governance.
Hon. Twum Barimah, renowned for his work in governance and environmental policy, is expected to share insights on sustainable natural resource management and the critical role of youth leadership in shaping Africa’s environmental future.
