Kate Nana Yaa Agyare, aka Nana Yaa Amponsah, who is aspiring to become the next Bono Regional 2nd Vice Chairperson of the NPP, says the Free SHS policy by the Akufo-Addo government remains one of the most pro-poor social interventions in the history of Ghana.
She described the policy as “transformational and phenomenal”, considering the opportunites it has given to tens of thousands of Junior High School graduates who otherwise could not have afforded to access secondary education due mainly to poverty.
Nana Yaa Amponsah is therefore calling on all Ghanaians to fully support the Free SHS policy to enable it to fully realize its objectives.
She told the media in Sunyani that the numerous benefits of the policy far outweigh its shortcomings and so there is no point to abolish it by any government in future.
Regional contest
Turning to the NPP’s internal contest, she said one of her main objectives of coming into the race is to offer more hope and support to women.
She said she would also work very hard to ensure that the party is able to ‘break the eight’ and continue with its good works which are visible for all to see.
Nana Yaa Amponsah, who hails from Chiraa, near Sunyani, is a product of the Twene Amanfo Secondary/Technical School.
She is currently the Chief Executive Officer of the St. Mary’s College of Health and three other companies. She was appointed as the national representative to the Bono Regional Campaign Team for the last general elections.
