Mr. Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah, the Member of Parliament for Ellembelle in the Western Region, has contradicted himself by denying that he provided any funds to a contractor for the purchase of fuel to support the reshaping of the Edwakpole-Awiebo road network. This contradicts his earlier statements captured in a viral video. The video, titled “Bonzoh K fights Armah Buah for fixing Ellembele roads,” depicts a heated exchange between the MP and the DCE for the area, Kwesi Bonzor.
In the video, Mr. Buah is seen criticizing DCE Bonzoh for not procuring fuel for the contractor, and he even boasted that he personally drove from Accra to purchase the fuel for the contractor.
U-turn
But responding to questions during a media interaction at Nkroful recently, the MP said he never gave out any money but facilitated the reshaping of the road and explained that not all facilitations involve money.
Mr. Buah’s denial has set tongues wagging with some of the constituents questioning his integrity and credibility.
Mr. Bonzoh, on the other hand, dismissed the MP’s action as propaganda and cheap politics meant to throw dust into the eyes of the constituents.
Mr. Bonzoh indicated that although each of them belongs to a different political party, he solemnly pledged to collaborate with the MP to develop Ellembele when he took over as DCE in 2017.
Lies galore
He expressed regret that the MP has continually spread falsehoods about him, particularly regarding the Edwakpole-Awiebo road. The DCE characterized the MP’s recent statements about this road as the “biggest lie.”
The DCE accused the MP of consistently taking credit for road construction projects initiated by the Akufo-Addo-led government in Ellembelle. He pointed out that during the eight years of the previous NDC government, the MP did not initiate the construction of a single kilometer of road despite holding positions as an MP, deputy minister, and cabinet minister.
He reminded the MP that when the NPP assumed power, only 60 kilometers of roads in the entire district had been repaired. He cautioned the MP to refrain from claiming credit for the substantial transformation of the road network.
Mr. Bonzoh disclosed that the district is currently undergoing the reconstruction of 272 kilometers of roads, with plans to repair more once GNPC, the funding agency, settles all the contractors after processing their Interim Payment Certificates.
