Mr 
Richard Barima Sarpong has picked the number two slot on the ballot paper for the Parliamentary elections of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Afigya Sekyere East Constituency of the Ashanti Region.
He is among three contestants. In an interview, he called on all constituents to vote massively for him in his bid to lead the constituency.
Born on November 17, 1982, and hailing from Dawu near Jamasi in the Ashanti Region of Ghana, Mr. Barima Sarpong’s journey in education spans Dawu L/A Junior High School, Adu Gyamfi Senior High School, and the University of Ghana, where he pursued studies in political science and sociology. Furthering his academic pursuits, he obtained a Masters in Development Communication at the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ).
Barima Sarpong’s diverse educational background extends to law and advocacy, as he successfully earned a Bachelor of Law (LLB) from Mountcrest University and completed the Professional Law Programme at the Ghana School of Law (Makola). His comprehensive knowledge also includes the legal aspects of insurance, acquired through studies at the Ghana Insurance College.
Currently serving as the Spokesperson and Communications Manager of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Barima Sarpong has played a pivotal role in shaping and implementing the communication strategy of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS). Concurrently, he remains an active member of the New Patriotic Party and harbors aspirations to become the Member of Parliament for the Afigya Sekyere East Constituency.
