The Chamber of Automobile Dealership Ghana (CADEG) has commended the instrumental role of the National Chief Imam, Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu, the Presbyterian Council of Ghana, the Pentecostal Council of Ghana, Catholic Bishop Conference, and the National Peace Council, and other faithbased organisations and leaders in advocating and achieving the suspension of the laying of the import restriction regulation.
In a joint statement signed by Nana Adu Bonsu Agyekum, President of CADEG, and Mr Eddie Kusi Ankomah, National Chairman, the Chamber attributed the suspension of the Import Restrictions Constitutional Instrument (CI) to the collaborative efforts, and instrumental support in fostering an informed dialogue with key the relevant stakeholders.
“Your commitment to our shared cause has been instrumental in fostering a collaborative and informed dialogue with key stakeholders, including policymakers and government officials,” the statement pointed out.

The statement acknowledged the decision reflected not only the government’s responsiveness but also its commitment to engaging in a comprehensive and inclusive decision-making process.
“The suspension of the Bill is a testament to the effectiveness of our collective efforts and the strength of our advocacy supported by your Eminence. Your dedication to ensuring that the concerns of the automobile industry were heard and considered during the process has significantly contributed to the positive outcome we’ve achieved,” the statement reiterated.
CADEG also added that: “As we continue to work towards well-balanced and sustainable importation policies, we recognise and appreciate the pivotal role you have played in this journey”.
“Your support has been crucial in upholding the interests of the industry and promoting fair and equitable trade opportunities,” CADEG said in the statement.
Collaboration
CADEG further looked forward to the government’s continued partnership and collaboration as they embraced future challenges and opportunities within the automobile sector.
The statement said together, they could contribute to the development of policies that supported the growth and sustainability of their industry and the economy of Ghana.
