The spokesperson for Okuapehene, Ohene Nana Bennett Smith Opoku, says disunity among the various leaders of the Okuapeman Traditional Council is militating against the progress and development of Okuapeman.
He insisted that there is no chieftaincy dispute, as being speculated, noting that “it is some section of people who have decided not to recognise Oseadeeyo Kwasi Akuffo III as the legitimate Chief of Okuapeman”.
According to him, it is time they stayed united to ensure that they achieve economic progress and development in the area.
In an interview with the Daily Statesman at Akropong, he said President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is a native of the town, and has a lot of developmental plans for the community, but unity is needed to make it materialise.
“The community cannot witness accelerated development in the absence of unity. Okuapeman is retrogressing, and we need to understand that we are not doing ourselves any good,” he added.
The spokesperson stressed that to ensure peaceful co-existence, there must be mutual respect among various leaders of the traditional council as well as members of the community.
He therefore used the opportunity to call on the President to intervene and help in resolving any form of problem within the traditional council.
