New Patriotic Party (NPP) executives in the Ellembele constituency of Western Region have descended heavily on Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah, the opposition NDC Member of Parliament for the area, for his hypocritical attitude, cheap politics and propaganda against the District Chief Executive, Kwasi Bonzoh.
They contend that instead of helping to better the lives of his constituents, Mr Armah Kofi Buah had always taken credit for the DCE’s feats and then turned round to peddle lies against him.
It is against this backdrop that they have urged the NDC legislator to stop politicising the death of one Andrew Donkor, an NPP polling station executive at Teleku-Bokazo.
At a press conference on Monday, the executives reminded him that all his antics against DCE Bonzoh and their party will backfire.
The press conference was in response to a petition sent by Mr Buah to the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) demanding compensation for the family of Donkor, who was killed during a clash between galamseyers and the police at a court premise on April 1 this year.
The 35-year-old Donkor met his untimely death when the galamseyers clashed with the police to prevent prosecution of some of their members arrested for encroaching on Adamus Resources Limited’s concession at Tekeku-Bokazo.
Reports indicate that the MP led some brass band musicians to perform at the funeral over the weekend, where he publicly reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that “Adamus compensates the bereaved family for their loss”.
Hypocrisy
Addressing journalists, Mr. Sampson Ndoli, the NPP constituency chairman, dismissed Buah’s action as hypocritical and needless since the issue on compensation had already been discussed by DCE Bonzoh, chiefs and management of Adamus following the IGP’s visit to Teleku-Bokazo.
He disclosed that aside accepting to bear Donkor’s funeral expenses, Adamus was also ready to release portion of its concession for Community mining.
Chairman Ndoli wondered why the MP could not lobby for establishment of a single Community Mining concession for them during the eight years that his party was in power.
“I’m wondering why Mr Buah had already compensated families of three persons drowned in a swimming pool at Aya recreational center owned by him. I wonder why he has the moral courage fighting for compensation for a deceased NPP executive. We hate hypocrisy. Our MP’s call for compensation for Donkor’s family is needless and cheap politics. He should rather push for establishment of Community mining for galamseyers in the constituency if he genuinely cares for them,” Mr Ndoli further added.
