Senya District Police Headquarters has gotten an office accommodation through the philanthropic deeds of the Director of communications at the Office of the Presidency, Mr Eugene Arhin.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony of the office building over the weekend, Mr Arhin disclosed that it took his outfit 18 months to renovate the building which was hitherto meant for a library.
“I got to know about this project when I visited the Senya Beraku Traditional Council and they appealed to me to do something about it, telling me that it had been started for a long time but they have not been able to complete it,” he revealed how it all started.
He assured the Senya District Police Commander and the chiefs that he would do everything possible to ensure proper maintenance of the building.
On other infrastructural projects, Mr Arhin promised to lobby for the Akoti Junction-Senya Beraku Road to be upgraded before December 7, 2024.
“I always walk my talk and you are witnesses to this Kasoa-Bawjiase Road is being constructed. On the Senya Beraku chieftaincy dispute, I don’t belong to any of the factions. The development of Senya Beraku is my prime concern,” he emphasised.
The project
The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr George Akufo Dampare, who commissioned the project, said President Akufo-Addo wants peace and security to be part of the legacies Ghanaians would remember him for after the end of his tenure.
“The outcome of this is the presentation of the 1,500 motor bikes to the Ghana Police recently. The President has made us understand that by the end of 2023, these motor bikes would be increased to 5000,” Dr Dampare further stated.
The essence of this, he said, is to increase police visibility in the communities so that at the blink of an eye, a police officer would be seen around.
On his part, the Central Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Alexander K. Amenyo, noted that before this project, the old police station housed the District Police Headquarters and the station itself.
The commissioned building houses the District Police Commander, Criminal Investigations Department (CID), Children-Friendly Office and District Orderly Room.
