The General Secretary of the Graduate Students Association of Ghana (GRASAG), Kwasi Frimpong, has donated some Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) and examination materials to the final year students of Hemang Presbyterian Basic School, at Twifo Heman in the Hemang-Lower-Denkyira district of the Central Region.

The items include nose masks, hand sanitisers, mathematical sets, pens, among others.

The donation is part of a project dubbed ‘SayItRight Donate Nose Masks’, which has seen over 500 nose masks already distributed to different groups of people, as part of the GRASAG secretary’s support for the fight against Covid-19.

Accompanied by some old students, Mr Frimpong assured the school of his continuous support whenever necessary.

Advice

He advised the students not to relent in taking their studies serious, even with just about a week left for the writing of their Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

He also urged the students to gather all the experiences, aside from those in the books, being taught in the school, saying they will need them in their future lives.

Kwasi Frimpong, who is also a former Press and Information Secretary of the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS), used the opportunity to wish the students well in the upcoming examination. He further encouraged the students not to lose hope when they encounter setbacks and know that whatever happens to them is a means of preparing them for the future.

“I was one time denied the opportunity to serve as a school prefect of this school, even though I won in an election, because I could not speak good English. I did not lose hope. Rather, I was encouraged. With that experience, it propelled me to become the number one official voice of all students in this country some time ago. Today, I am the General Secretary and the main liaison officer for all Ghanaians who are reading their masters and PhD, and guess what, it all started from the four corners of this wall,” he said.

Appreciation

Receiving the items, headmaster of the school, William Okomeng Agyapong, expressed appreciation for the support. He said for his close to 14 years as headmaster of the school, it is the first time that he has witnessed such a gesture.

He pleaded with the old students to come to the aid of the school since the school needs a lot of things, including computers for its computer lab.
