The Greater Accra Regional office of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has held its annual performance review meeting as a way of improving healthcare services, achieving its set targets and expanding membership coverage.
The meeting, which was held in Accra over the weekend, was attended by District Managers, Monitoring and Evaluating Officers, as well as the members of the regional management team. It was meant to assess NHIA’s performance in the year 2021.
Speaking to participants during the meeting, the NHIA Greater Accra Regional Director, Bernard Nii Anyaa Brown, explained that the review would equip their Monitoring and Evaluation Officers (M&E) and District Managers with knowledge on current updates concerning claims management, credentialing as well as quality assurance issues.

According to him, the review was also help correct errors that occurred in the previous year to enable the region achieve its desired results. He advised all administrative officers to work in accordance with standard operational procedures.
He said it would enable the Greater Accra NHIA office to work efficiently without leaving any bad traits, even if a third party intervenes into their managerial affairs for monitoring.
The Regional Director therefore urged all participants at the meeting to impart the knowledge acquired to other staff to enhance the Authority’s monitoring and evaluation activities.
He added that even though the regional office was not able to meet its set target in the management of COVID-19, it achieved 80 percent of its target for the year under review.
“Fortunately, measures have already been put in place for linking NHIS card to the GhanaCard, and I believe that, very soon, people can go to hospital with their GhanaCard without necessarily visiting the hospital with NHIS card,” he said.
