A Deputy General Secretary of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Antoinette Tsiboe-Darko, has inaugurated the Koforidua Technical University chapter of Patriotic intellectuals.

She has therefore called on the professionals to show keen interest in governance, and make their voices credible in the political landscape.

She also stressed the need for them to help elevate the national political discourse from propaganda and misinformation to issues and data driven policy ideas.

Patriotic intellectuals is a group of professionals at Koforidua Technical University affiliated to the NPP.

In his speech, the interim Chairperson of the Association, Prof.William Gyadu Asiedu, intimated that there is too much of political disinformation, miscommunication and deliberate propaganda in the Ghanaian political ecosystem.

As such, he explained that this group is being formed to change the narrative.

Prof. William Gyadu Asiedu also commended the Government for the feats it has achieved in all sectors of the economy despite the ongoing global economic challenges, which has had a devastating impact on the Ghanaian economy.

Economy

For his part, Dr George Domfeh, Economist and Senior Lecturer at the University of Ghana, walked members of the Association through Ghana’s economic history.

He noted that a thorough examination of the country’s economy over the years, revealed that the Ghanaian economy is being managed well and will recover.

He further emphasised that economic performance is not measured by just current events.

Present during the inauguration were Lawyer Yaw Adomako Baafi, former Director of Communications of the NPP, Dr Nyame Baafi, Deputy Director of Research of NPP and Asiedu Kokuro, Deputy Director of Communications of NPP.
