The New Patriotic Party Member of Parliament for Kwadaso, Kingsley Nyarko, has described the recent proposal by the NDC MP for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, for government to stop giving tax exemptions to companies as hypocritical.

He stressed that tax exemptions had been with the country “since Adam”, adding that it is rather the Akufo-Addo government that is seeking to regulate tax exemptions to companies. .

“You’re also aware that, there’s an Exemption Bill before Parliament, and it’s also captured in the 2022 Budget. This is the first time a government is seeking to have a bill to regulate exemptions to companies. I was expecting you, if not commending the government, to at least inform the good people of the country about the bill,” Dr Nyarko said in a statement.

He was responding to the Mr Ablakwa’s claim of “too much tax exemptions” granted by the government made on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana show last week Friday.

Dr Nyarko was particularly surprised that Mr Ablakwa sat in Parliament on Thursday, February 10, 2022, when the Exemptions Bill 2021 was withdrawn and re-laid after amendments to it.

“It’s now Exemptions Bill 2022. What dishonesty is this, my good friend? I think Members of Parliament owe it a duty to be honest, sincere and candid to the people at all material times. Hon Ablakwa, please, let truth and honesty guide and guard you in your politics. The populism and propaganda will give you a temporary popularity, but will crush you eventually,” he noted.

Hypocrisy

Dr Nyarko stated that it is high time his colleagues stopped the politics of propaganda and hypocrisy”.

“Stop the hypocrisy my friend. I think Ghanaians are fed up with your kind of politics which is saddled with propaganda to seek political power and nothing else. Let me tell you that Ghanaians are very discerning and are aware of your age-long tricks and deceptions. Ghanaians remember your days with the Committee for Joint Action (CJA) – a tool you used to attain political power in 2008, only to disappoint,” Dr Nyarko pointed out.

He also added that Ghanaians remember him for the lies, misinformation, populism and propaganda then, “and that’s what you’re doing now.”

“Let me tell you, we shall expose you, and your machinations to the citizenry, who are not interested in your vile, political-power-seeking propaganda, but rather interested in the improvement of their well-being, and trust the capability of the NPP under the able leadership of President Akufo-Addo to deliver,” he noted.
