Akosua Asaa Manu, affectionately known as Kozie, the New Patriotic Party’s parliamentary candidate for the Adentan constituency, has commissioned two critical infrastructure projects to address long-standing challenges in the area.
The initiatives, a newly constructed road at Lakeside Container and a reconstructed footbridge at Amanfrom Zongo, were funded through Kozie’s personal resources and contributions from partners within and outside the constituency. These interventions aimed to improve accessibility, safety, and the quality of life for residents.
Improved roads
The Lakeside Container road, once characterized by muddy and nearly impassable conditions, had undergone a significant transformation. Previously a major inconvenience, especially during the rainy season, the road is now fully rehabilitated, providing residents and commuters with a smooth and reliable route.
Local residents have lauded the project as a game-changer, citing the positive impact on daily transportation and accessibility. “This road used to be a nightmare during the rains, but now we can travel with ease,” said one resident.
The Footbridge
Equally transformative is the reconstructed footbridge at Amanfrom Zongo, which replaces a perilous structure that had become a death trap. For years, residents were forced to take longer, alternative routes to avoid the danger posed by the old bridge, which spanned a large gutter.
The new bridge has restored safety and convenience, with residents expressing deep gratitude for Kozie’s timely intervention. One community member noted, “This bridge is a lifesaver. We now have a safe and direct path, and it has truly changed how we move around.”
Commitment
Speaking at the commissioning ceremonies, Kozie, who also serves as the Deputy CEO in charge of Administration and Finance at the National Youth Authority, emphasised her dedication to the welfare of her constituents. She clarified that her efforts were driven by a genuine passion for community development rather than political motivations.
“I constructed the bridge not because of votes or to check if the residents here support the NPP, but because it was heart-breaking to see people using such a dangerous bridge,” Kozie remarked, highlighting her commitment to addressing the urgent needs of the community.
Broader concerns
Kozie also took the opportunity to address concerns about the absence of the sitting Member of Parliament, suggesting that her projects were filling gaps that could have been addressed through the MP’s common fund.
“I am here to solve problems, not to criticize. However, I urge residents to consider who has truly prioritized their welfare when they cast their votes in the upcoming elections,” she stated.
Kozie urged the people of Adentan to support her parliamentary bid and vote for the NPP’s presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, to continue the party’s development agenda.
