Market Queens pick forms for Alan

A flagbearer hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alan Kyerematen, yesterday took a further step in his bid to lead the governing party as its presidential candidate in the 2024 general elections.
Representing the former Minister of Trade and Industry, some market queens visited the party’s headquarters in Accra to pick nomination forms for him.
Shortly after picking the forms, the group told pressmen that they are at the forefront of canvassing and mobilizing grassroots support for Mr Kyerematen.
According to the women, their presence at the party’s headquarters was in response to the concerns of the Kumasi Central Market women.
One Comfort Serwaa, leader of Kumasi Tomato sellers union, who led the market queens, said although the market women are not certain about who becomes the next leader for the NPP, they wholeheartedly stand with their queens.
She claimed that all the market women had expressed their readiness to raise funds for Alan to oil his campaign.
They believe that Mr Kyerematen understands the market women, and appreciates their industry better with his years of experience at the ministry.
“So, our presence here today is to honour that,” she said.
The group extended appreciation to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for the Free Senior High School policy.
