Henry Nana Boakye, National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party, says Ashanti Region has had its fair of the massive development that has been rolled out by the Akufo-Addo government.
Speaking at the inauguration of the campaign team of the Ashanti regional youth wing over the weekend, Nana B, as the NPP youth leader is affectionately called, mentioned some of the achievements in areas such as job creation, industrialization, education, health, among others.
Job creation
Under job creation, he said the NPP has created 2, 055, 100 jobs, out of which Ashanti Region alone has 180,716 beneficiaries. He further mentioned that out of the 100, 000 beneficiaries under the Nation’s Builders Corps, nationwide, Ashanti Region has 24,724 beneficiaries.
“The NPP has employed 93,742 teaching and non-teaching staff, under the Ministry of Education, of which the Ashanti Region alone has 11, 425,” he said.
He also stated that the Planting for Food and Jobs has created 762,300 jobs, of which 84,405 are within Ashanti Region, whilst the Forestry Commission has employed some 7,425 in Ashanti Region, from the national figure of 84,183.
Industrialization
Nana B also stated that out of the factories now operational under the One District, One Factory (1D1F) initiative, Ashanti Region alone has 20 of them, adding that they created 3,776 jobs in the region and 10,963 in the entire nation.
He listed some of the companies as Western Deedew, located at Agona; Agro Africa Limited, located at Asankare; Ababio Express, located at Asokore Mampong; and Kasapreko Company Limited, located at Tanoso, among others.
Education /infrastructure
According to Nana B, in terms of education, the region has also had its fair share through the Free SHS and Free TVET policy.
Ashanti Region has 222,099 beneficiaries, out of the 1.2million beneficiaries nationwide. Of the 144,000 beneficiaries of the teacher trainees’ allowance, the region has 25,253 students. He also cite the construction of the John Agyekum Kufuor School in Dabaa, adding that 4,500 students in the region have benefitted from the Tertiary Scholarship scheme by Ghana Scholarship Secretariat,” he said.
In terms of infrastructure, NPP the national youth organiser said a total of 2,344 projects have been started in the region, with 1,037 completed and 1,307 ongoing.
“Under the school infrastructure projects, the region has 225 projects as part of the basic school projects, which comprise classroom blocks, teachers’ common rooms, administration blocks, libraries, among others, and 261 school projects under the SHS projects, which also comprise classroom blocks, dormitories, science laboratories, etc,” he disclosed.
He further stated that the region has six of the 1000-metric tonnes warehousing projects, listing the beneficiary communities as Tepa, Drobonso, Ejura, Kumawu-Wonoo, Akumadan and Mampong, as well as a 5000-capacity ultra-modern youth resource centre & sports centre (Stadium) at Nyinahini.
Health
He said under health, the NPP government has provided 49 ambulances to the region under the One Constituency One Ambulance policy.
The government has also established a drone delivery service in Mampong to help in the distribution of drugs and other essential medicines within the region.
According to Nana B, out of the 159,000 beneficiaries of the trainee nurses’ allowances, the region alone, which has 11 nursing institutions, has 29,644 trainees benefiting.
The NPP national youth organiser therefore urged the good people of the region to give President Akufo-Addo and the NPP four more years to do more for the region.
