The Presidential Elections Committee of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced a nationwide Constituency Album Verification and Validation Exercise aimed at authenticating the voter register (album) that will be used for the party’s upcoming presidential primary.
In a statement signed by the Secretary to the Committee, Mr. William Yamoah, and copied to the Acting National Chairman, the General Secretary, National Executives, and all presidential aspirants, the Committee reaffirmed its “unwavering resolve to ensure a free, fair, transparent, and credible Presidential Primary.” It explained that the album verification exercise forms part of deliberate steps to promote transparency and uphold the integrity of the party’s internal electoral process.
Date for verification and validation process
According to the statement, “the verification and validation process is scheduled to take place from Monday, October 20, 2025, to Friday, October 31, 2025.” During this period, “a Verification Team from the National Secretariat, together with members of the Presidential Elections Committee, will visit each region to validate each constituency voter register (album), working in close collaboration with constituency executives.”
The Committee further directed regional leadership to “coordinate and liaise with the designated team lead for your region to prepare a schedule, assigning specific constituencies to particular days and time.” The exercise, which will be conducted daily between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., is expected to involve all Constituency Validation Committee members, who are required to be present on their scheduled dates to ensure a smooth and credible process.
Component of Constituency Validation Committee
The statement outlined that the Constituency Validation Committee will comprise the “Constituency Chairman of the Council of Elders, Constituency Chairperson, Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Organiser, Women Organiser, Research and Elections Officer, IT Officer, and Presidential Aspirants’ Representative of each constituency.” In addition, it indicated that “a former Constituency Executive may be invited to authenticate historical data” to ensure accuracy and consistency in the records.
TESCON also features prominently in the process, as “Regional TESCON Coordinators should collaborate with their Regional Party leadership and the validation team assigned to their respective regions to ensure the accurate capturing and validation of their members in constituencies where their institutions are located.”
Instruction to presidential aspirants
The Committee further instructed all presidential aspirants to “nominate a constituency-level representative to the validation committee” and to “submit the names and contact numbers of their duly accredited representatives for each constituency to the Presidential Elections Committee by Friday, October 17, 2025.” It cautioned that “only accredited representatives, whose names have been submitted to the Committee, shall be allowed to participate in the process at each validation centre.”
The Committee stated that “Presidential aspirants or their duly accredited representatives may, within three days following the completion of the validation exercise in any constituency, submit a written complaint to the Presidential Elections Committee detailing any grievances, observations, or irregularities arising from the conduct of the validation process.”
Caution against unlawful act
The Committee also warned that “it is unlawful for any person(s) to cause any disruption, chaos, or confusion at the validation centre,” underscoring the need for discipline and cooperation throughout the exercise.
The statement reminded all participants that, pursuant to article 3(9)(1) of the Party’s constitution, “all members who have forfeited their membership are excluded from taking part in the process.” It emphasized that the Party remains committed to delivering a register that “upholds the credibility and integrity of the electoral process,” describing the validation exercise as “a critical process requiring the cooperation and partnership of all stakeholders.”
“The Committee values your cooperation and partnership in this critical process. Together, we shall deliver a register that upholds the credibility and integrity of the electoral process. We count on your unwavering commitment and customary support,” the statement added.
