KANTA-CONTI clash
Some rampaging students of the KNUST’s University Hall (Katanga) and Unity Hall (Continental) on Thursday, August 18, 2022 vandalised cars parked in front of the Continental Hall whereas other properties were damaged in the clash.
It is believed that attempts by students of Unity Hall to restrain their colleagues from the University Hall from using their frontage in a procession resulted in the incident.
According to reports, order was restored after police reinforcements secured the scene and drove out the rowdy protesters.
According to the University’s Executive Committee, the clash resulted in eleven people sustaining minor injuries, whilst about nine cars got damaged.
The KNUST Executive Committee obtained CCTV footages from the school’s campus and commenced investigations into the incident.
They called on the Ashanti Regional Police Command to swiftly investigate the matter. Consequently, management of the university has suspended all Hall Week celebrations as well as the SRC week celebration activities.
