Ellen Ofosu Asieduaa, Executive Secretary of the Iustum Center for Democracy and Governance (ICEDEG-Africa)
The Executive Secretary of the Iustum Center for Democracy and Governance (ICEDEG-Africa), Ellen Ofosu Asieduaa, has underscored the organisation’s commitment to deepening inclusive participation in Ghana’s budget formulation and review processes through structured stakeholder engagement.
Speaking during an interview on the Asaase Breakfast Show on 17th June 2026, she explained that, part of the ICEDEG-Africa’s policy dialogue initiative, is to bring together the views of businesses and citizens to better understand their expectations ahead of the Mid-Year Budget Review.
“What we are seeking to do at ICEDEG-Africa is to gather the views of African businesses and Ghanaians as a whole regarding the 2026 mid-year budget review, review their expectations and what they want to be factored,” Ellen Ofosu Asieduaa said.
According to her, the goal is to ensure that the concerns, suggestions, and priorities of key economic actors and ordinary citizens are not only heard but systematically documented and reflected in policy conversations at the national level.
She noted that businesses remain central to Ghana’s economic development as drivers of investment, job creation, and innovation, adding that their perspectives on fiscal policy, taxation, and economic management are critical to effective governance and sustainable growth.
Ellen Ofosu Asieduaa stressed that ICEDEG-Africa’s approach goes beyond traditional policy dialogue by deliberately integrating grassroots and private sector input into evidence-based policy briefs that can inform decision-making.
She further explained that the outcomes of the engagement will be compiled into a comprehensive policy brief to be submitted to relevant government institutions, including the Ministry of Finance and other economic governance agencies, ahead of the budget review process.
Ellen Ofosu Asieduaa said the initiative reflects ICEDEG-Africa’s broader mission of promoting participatory governance, strengthening accountability, and bridging the gap between policymakers and citizens.
She added that sustained engagement of this nature is essential to improving transparency in public finance management and restoring public confidence in governance systems, particularly at a time of heightened economic expectations.
