Let me rather be bold and state that there has not been any government, at least within the 4th Republic, which has been able to implement a significant amount of its promises and flagship programs within its first term in office as we have observed with respect to the Akufo-Addo government.
It is usually the norm that the first term of every government is the ‘incubation and stabilization’ period whereas their second term is the take-off period where we usually see the tangible manifestation of their promises and flagship programs.
The audacious implementation of the NPP flagship programs within its first term of being in office sets-out the uniqueness of this government.
Educational infrastructure
Among the many of such programs are the massive educational infrastructural development that has sprung up across the length and breadth of our country, which off course, the eyes cannot ignore.
The government through GETFUND secured a $1.5 Billion loan facility of which $500 million has already been disbursed for the implementation of various educational projects within the Senior High Schools.
GETFUND through the Senior High School Intervention Support Projects (SHIPs) has so far constructed about 962 facilities in the various Senior High Schools across the country. These facilities consist of laboratories, dormitories, classrooms, assembly halls, dining halls, sanitary facilities for their personal hygiene amongst others.
It must be emphasised that there is not a single traditional Senior High School which has not seen an elevation in terms of the rehabilitation and expansion of existing facilities or building of new structures to accommodate the growing number of students, and to create an excellent environment for conducive learning. There is no Senior High School that has been left out in this massive intervention. Despite all these gains, the government continues to invest hugely in the educational infrastructure and development of our country.
Vehicular support
Also, the government, through its determination to overhaul our educational system in order to meet global standards, has demonstrated enough commitment to prioritise the future of our kids. It has thus amongst others provided vehicular support to strengthen the administrative duties including extra curriculum and curriculum activities through the provision of about 1,190 vehicles. These vehicles include 840 pick-ups and 350 buses for each Senior High School across the country.
This is by far the biggest intervention to have been made to Senior High Schools by any government in its first term of office. We cannot have a future without preparing our children for the future.
We as Ghanaians must encourage ourselves to continue to believe in the vision of President Akufo-Addo and offer the needed support to his government by renewing his mandate at the upcoming general elections for the progress of our country and to secure the bright future of our children.
Let us all in unison embrace, 4 MORE 4 NANA TO DO MORE!!!!
Vote for Nana and the NPP!!!
