Supporters and fans of Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia have asserted that his invaluable vision and ideas of transformational development put him ahead of his peers as a flagbearer hopeful of the NPP for 2024.
Speaking during the launch of ‘Bawumia Must Win (BMW)’, president of the group, David Gyasi Boako, acknowledged the efforts of Dr. Bawumia in the party, and expressed confidence he is the best man to lead the party to make history by winning the 2024 elections.
The launch of the ‘BMW’ campaign was held at the GNAT Hall in Accra on the theme “Making history with Dr. Bawumia as the next president of Ghana”.
Dues duly paid
Mr Gyasi Boako said the Vice-President had paid his dues to the party, citing the dramatic turnaround of the NPP’s fortunes since he emerged to buttress his point.
He said when “you look at how our numbers have gone up in the northern regions – now in the northern region for, instance, we have nine seats and the NDC also has nine seats – you cannot discount his impact”.
He also pointed out that in Savannah Region, the NPP has three seats while the NDC has four. In the entirety of the old Northern Region, he indicated, the NPP has 16 seats while the NDC has 15, noting that “in the recent past, the NPP had only three seats out of 31”.
The group further indicated that the Vice-President is a threat to the opposition National Democratic Congress, the reason why the party is always painting him black to the public.
According to the group, Dr Bawumia, through the digitalization agenda, has done a lot to make living for every Ghanaian very easy. As a result, he said, “the NDC is not happy with it since he is standing tall among the other candidates that can lead the party to win the 2024 General elections”.
He said the group’s research clearly shows that Dr. Bawumia over the years had demonstrated great competencies and exceptional leadership in leveraging technology to improve and correct the structural deficiencies of the traditional economy.
“Bawumia is a competent, humble, diligent, affable, and hardworking personality who has the wherewithal to break the 8-year political jinx successive governments have had to succumb in the past. I, therefore, urge the party delegates to get him eligible to become the party flag bearer,” he stated.
Outlining some of his achievements, he said, currently, through Dr. Bawumia’s handiwork, clearing agents, freight forwarders and the public can clear their goods at the ports without paper printing.
“Today, you can sit in the comfort of your home or office, and file tax returns. This has been made possible by the Digitalized Man – Dr. Bawumia. Today, by the click of a button on one’s phone, payments for all government services devoid of queues or human interfaces are easily and swiftly provided,” BMW President indicated.
Mr Gyasi Boako added: “Today, you don’t struggle to locate people. All you need to do is input the person’s digital address. Today, we have a unified system of identification for every Ghanaian. Today, we can easily deliver medications to our family members who are difficult to be reached by road. In a few days to come, all passengers flying both in and out of our airports will save themselves time and the frustrations of completing both departure and landing cards,” he stated.
He, therefore, called on all delegates of the NPP and the electorate to massively endorse the candidature of the Vice-President to become the flagbearer of the NPP and ultimately, the next President of the country.
In line with this, he stressed that the “national leadership of BMW will harness one of its great potentials, which is ‘COMMUNICATION. BMW would use all available communication channels – traditional and social media – to project, protect and defend the brand Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and reach out to as many delegates as possible before the Presidential primaries”.
“While we do not doubt in our mind that Dr. Bawumia will win the presidential primaries, we are determined to help the National Campaign team to achieve a percentage not less than 85, to send a strong message to all aspirants and the opposition National Democratic Congress.
“It is not for nothing that distinguished personalities in politics, academia, clergy, civil society groups, professional bodies and people from all walks of life are yearning for Dr. Bawumia to be the next flagbearer and President of Ghana. He is the best bet for the NPP and Ghana as a whole,” he added.
