A new not-for-profit organization dedicated to nurturing leaders and enriching communities, the GrowLead Foundation, has been officially launched in Accra. The colourful event, held on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at Wesley Towers, No. 3 Cruickshank Road, brought together professionals, development partners, and young changemakers to mark the birth of a mission-driven organization focused on leadership, empowerment, and social transformation.
Founded in 2025, the GrowLead Foundation seeks to build a network of transformational leaders equipped to drive sustainable social and economic change across Ghana and beyond. The Foundation’s core philosophy revolves around empowering individuals and communities through leadership training, mentorship, civic engagement, and development-oriented initiatives that promote inclusive growth and social justice.
The launch, organized by the founding members of the Foundation, was held in partnership with KONRAD Adenauer Stiftung and IH Global, two institutions renowned for their commitment to governance, leadership, and youth empowerment. Their partnership with GrowLead Foundation, organizers said, underscores a shared vision of grooming the next generation of ethical and community-oriented leaders.
Defining step
Speaking at the event, Nazifatu Mohammed Abdulai, Executive Director of the GrowLead Foundation, described the launch as a defining step toward building a movement that inspires innovation, ethical leadership, and community service. She explained that GrowLead is not just another NGO but a platform created to address the systemic barriers that hinder women, girls, and marginalized groups from realizing their full potential.
“GrowLead Foundation is a not-for-profit Ghanaian NGO dedicated to empowering women, girls, and marginalized communities, particularly in the five regions of the North, Zongo neighborhoods, and settler enclaves,” she said. “Through our programmes, we nurture leadership, amplify voices, and create opportunities for women and girls to participate meaningfully in civic life and decision-making.”
Ms. Abdulai emphasized that the Foundation’s work is grounded in the belief that strong and resilient communities are built when women and girls are equipped with the skills, confidence, and networks they need to drive lasting change. She added that GrowLead envisions a future where women, girls, and marginalized groups are fully aware of their social and political rights and are empowered to actively engage in civic and community life.
“Our mission is to provide opportunities and platforms for women and girls to develop their capacities, strengthen leadership skills, and actively engage in decisions that impact their lives and communities,” she stated.
